Our founder Deivathiru S.Subramaniam, native of Trichy is a provost and philanthropist. He is a man who enjoys living by what he gets. But he enjoys life only by what he gives.His pleasure finds no bounds in being a giver in accordance with Mother Teresa’s statement “The hand that gives, gathers”. His untiring efforts to accomplish the mission and vision and expansion of the college till today is an untold and uncompromising mystery which is highly applaudable and appreciable. But for his dynamic devotion and dedication, the lamp of Surya College of Engineering would not have emanated the radiance of knowledge in multi dimension to the socially backward students. His paternal affection, towards the studious students and sincere staff members commands commendable compliments from those associates. His munificent help to all the helpless and weaker section of society without much publicity has earned him the name “Periyavar” in the milieu. Apart from his philanthropic attitude, he always applies his mind to spend his hard earned money for the uplift of the downtrodden by providing the adequate ambience for the poor students to empower them for emancipation with engineering education. His profound qualities of enthusiasm, perseverance, vision and live networking created a springboard for many aspirants to mould their careers. He held on to his dreams and converted them into reality. His relentless work drove him to success. He was the pioneer to promote technical education in Trichy region. He helped the students explore their own potential. He made them realize that education, hard work and commitment to the nation are the only means to get themselves employable and overcome poverty.
